Use the tax year that matches the income you are reporting. These 2026 figures generally apply to returns filed in 2027. A 2025 return filed during 2026 uses 2025 rules.

2026 basic standard deduction

  • Single or married filing separately: $16,100
  • Married filing jointly or qualifying surviving spouse: $32,200
  • Head of household: $24,150
